How It Works

“As I have learned more about my ancestors, I have found so much joy in discovering stories and people who made me who I am today.”

-T. McLeod

First, tell us about your family.

Fill out some basic information (name, date, and place of birth/marriage/death) about you and your spouse, your parents and both sets of grandparents.

Exact information is preferred, but approximate information will work, too. If you don’t have all of the details, try asking family members, looking at old photos, or the family Bible.

Next, let our volunteers do the work.

Our Family History Consultants will take the information you provide and use it to search our extensive databases and resources for information about additional relatives, as well as photos, obituaries, newspapers articles and stories to help paint a picture of your family for you.

Then, learn about your family.

Within about two weeks, your Family History starter packet will be complete, and we will contact you to arrange delivery by a church representative. This packet includes the names, dates, and places of the first four generations of your family tree, as well as charts showing family relationships, copies of photos, articles and records for your family members. The packet also includes instructions for setting up a free account on FamilySearch. Our Family History Consultants are always available to walk you through how to use the site.

Finally, keep searching!

There is still much to be discovered! Armed with the information and tools you need, you are ready to continue building your family tree and learning about the amazing lives of your ancestors. Our Family History Consultants are always available to help you along the way.

“This has been quite an eye-opening journey that I have shared proudly with other members of my family. After entering my grandparents’ information, the tree automatically propagated beyond belief. The first evening, I was able to trace one path back to 300BC and actually passed through many of the European Royalty along the way. I’ve since traced it back to 3000BC which included Pharaohs of Egypt! This has been a very entertaining experience!”
